Become a chef at CJ's Bakery
CJ's Bakery offers adults with learning difficulties the opportunity to work in our team of chefs.
Chefs are supervised by volunteers to help them learn how to make a range of baked goods - sold each week in our online shop.
What to expect
CJ's chefs have a range of abilities, so the volunteers adjust their support according to each individual's needs.
The tasks involved in the kitchen include:
- Reading the recipe
- Measuring the ingredients
- Chopping ingredients
- Mixing by hand and using the electric mixer
- Preparing baking trays
- Forming and cutting to shape
- Arranging on trays ready to bake
- Packaging products
- Labelling products
- Keeping their workplace clean and tidy
